The Governing Board of the African School of Governance announces the departure of its inaugural president, Professor Kingsley Moghalu.
“The African School of Governance (ASG) was founded to provide a platform for best practices in good governance and to train a new African generation of ethical leaders grounded in the values of humility, servant leadership, integrity, and inclusivity. We believe that it’s a privilege to lead, that’s why our leadership, management, and faculty strive to embody these principles every day. We thank Professor Moghalu for his service and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
— H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn, Chairman of the ASG Governing Board
As the saying goes, “Men pass, institutions endure.” ASG, as a collective institution, will continue to advance with determination, supported by a strengthened team, an esteemed faculty, and committed partners.
A New Momentum Led by Exceptional Leaders
ASG is honored to welcome Professor Amany El-Sharif as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. A re-known pan-African figure, Professor El-Sharif brings an international career spanning higher education, public health, and governance.
“Our academic vision remains unchanged,” said Professor El-Sharif. “This leadership transition will not affect our commitment to delivering an authentic, Pan-African, and mindset-centered educational experience that reflects ASG’s founding principles.”
Professor El-Sharif will be joined by a distinguished team of professors and experts from across the African continent. Each brings a unique perspective shaped by decades of academic leadership, public service, and policy engagement in their respective countries. With backgrounds spanning governance, economics, international relations, health, and development, their collective experience reflects the intellectual richness and diversity of Africa itself. Their presence reinforces ASG’s commitment to academic excellence, thought leadership, and a truly Pan-African identity rooted in both local relevance and global insight.
ASG will continue the roll-out of its academic programs, particularly the Master of Public Administration (MPA), which has already attracted nearly 500 applicants from over 30 African countries.
