AFRICAN SCHOOL OF GOVERNANCE ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF MR FRANCIS KABERA GATARE AS PRESIDENT OF ASG
(Kigali, Rwanda) 30th October 2025 — Today, 30th October 2025, the African School of Governance (ASG) Governing Board has appointed Mr Francis K. Gatare as the President of the ASG, effective 1st November 2025.
In selecting Mr Gatare as President, the Governing Board noted that the ASG implementation journey is progressing well and that the current stage requires a leader most familiar with the founders’ vision and who has been associated with the school long enough to ensure continuity of its purpose.
“I’m humbled & deeply honoured to step into this new role at the African School of Governance. Having been part of ASG’s journey as a Board Member and inspired by its founders’ vision, I share their unwavering commitment to nurturing a generation of African leaders grounded in integrity, pursuit of excellence, and public service,” says Mr Gatare. “I am excited to continue this work alongside passionate colleagues and partners, and I look forward to working together in advancing ASG’s mission of developing transformative leaders across Africa.”
As a current member of the Governing Board and having led the core technical team that shaped the ASG’s strategic foundation, the Governing Board has confidence that Mr Gatare’s background and competence provide him a solid basis to meet their expectations and to steer the ASG community to the next level.
Mr Gatare, a Senior Advisor to the President of the Republic of Rwanda, has been a Cabinet Member and served in various senior positions of the Government of Rwanda.
The ASG Founders, Governing Board, ASG Foundation Council, as well as the entire ASG Community and partners wish him success in this new assignment.
